The Minnesota Territorial Pioneers is now offering research assistance!
Please submit your request by either emailing us or using the our
contact form here. Your request will be sent to the next available researcher, who will correspond with you directly after evaluating the extent of your request and will advise you regarding whether they can undertake the work/the applicable timeline and fee estimate.
- Prepayment of 50% of the estimated research fee is required.
- Research fees are non-refundable. They are for the search time involved and do not guarantee that information will be found.
- The average response time is 3-4 weeks.
- Rush service is not available.
- MTP reserves the right to decline to reproduce fragile items.
- Note: Possession of MTP images/scans does not give permission for using them commercially. Please connect with the office for permission to use for displays, advertising, broadcasts, or reproductions in a print project.
Currently, in person self research at our office is not available. Fees are as follows and includes up to 20 copies of documentation:
- Non-MTP Members
- First 15 mins - Free
- Each additional 60 minutes - $50
- Shipping/Handling (if applicable) - $3
- MTP Members
- First 30 mins - Free
- Each additional 60 minutes - $40
- Shipping/Handling (if applicable) - $3
For research requests:
- Please submit one name or topic at a time.
- Additional requests can be submitted once the previous request has been completed.
- Genealogical requests should contain:
- The full name of the individual whose record is requested.
- County or city associated with the individual.
- Exact date of the event if known. For all other requests, please indicate as narrow of a time period as possible.
- Historical research requests must try to answer a specific question or to to achieve a specific goal e.g., "My great-grandmother Jane Doe was living in Carver County in 1850. Can you tell me her siblings and parents names?"
- Please avoid questions such as: "I would like any and all information you have on Jane Doe in Carver County."
- Requests are processed in the order they are received.
- If documentation from outside sources are needed, the cost will be added to the final itemized billing.
- Additional copies are $0.25 per page beyond the first 20. This will also be included in the final billing.
