Potrait Collection

George H. Hazzard became the secretary of the Minnesota Territorial Pioneers in 1903, and later Edwin Clark during his time as secretary for the Hennepin County Pioneers Assoc.   They were the driving forces behind the collection of the pioneer settler portraits making up our one of a kind collection. To date we have over 2000 portraits and photos of early settlers of Minnesota in our collection.

Unknown Portraits

Can you help us identify the individuals in these portraits?

Often requested photos would arrive without a frame; Hazard would then obtain used frames, file away the photos that were in them, and then use the frame on the donated pioneer portrait. Some of the unknown photos below come from this collection. They may or may not be territorial pioneers, or their children, so we’re posting the images here online to see if anyone might be able to help us identify them. If you can, please reach out. Thank you!
