Paul T. Granlund became the sculptor-in-residence at Gustavus Adolphus College in 1971. His figurative bronze sculptures have been installed in public and private settings from Australia to Italy to India, from Minneapolis to Hong Kong.

Granlund was the son of a minister and a 1952 graduate of Gustavus Adolphus. He received his masters of fine arts from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan and received a Fulbright Fellowship, and later a Guggenheim Fellowship that allowed him to study sculpture in Italy. He was an instructor at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design before returning to Gustavus.

Granlund entered and won a number of arts competitions, including the Minnesota Governor's competition for a Vietnam War memorial. His work has been exhibited not only around Minnesota, but also the world.
